Amwaj Islands
The Amwaj Islands are a group of man-made islands off the coast of Bahrain in the Persian Gulf. These islands which have been created out of reclaimed land near the Muharraq islands are about 30 million square feet in area. This reclamation has been acclaimed as a rare engineering feat.
The Amwaj Islands have been reclaimed using modern techniques such as vacuum sewerage and geotubes. Thus the engineers were able to create an oasis from the ocean floor. These islands have all the basic infrastructure facilities, and much more – they have ultramodern water, electricity, and sewage systems. It is planned to build a breakwater reef to protect these islands from the impact of tidal waves.
You can visit the Amwaj Islands by car which takes you over the causeway or you may take a boat ride into the new marina. The marina has the state of the art facilities and has a capacity for one hundred berths. Plans are afoot to connect the islands with the airport by a 3 km highway.
Amwaj Islands have been planned to include 6 islands, out of which 4 islands will be devoted for residential purposes, one island for theme park, and one island for healthcare. Investors are given a number of options to choose their homes from – waterfront villas, high rise apartments, garden homes, as well as budget single bedroom apartments. The residential estates will have beach front houses, apartment buildings, shopping malls, office towers, motels, hotels, health clubs, cinemas, and amusement parks.
Come to Bahrain and visit the man-made marvel, the Amwaj Islands.
