Bahrain Nature & Wildlife

Bahrain is an island nation located in the Persian Gulf. It is an archipelago of 33 islands which is famed for its scenic beauty and the reason for it to become a hot tourist destination. When you move about through Bahrain, you will observe a lot of lush natural growth and abundance of wildlife. Nature and wildlife in Bahrain attracts a lot of nature lovers, and wildlife and bird enthusiasts.

The nature and wildlife in Bahrain is concentrated in the northern part of the country which has lush green landscape. The thick greenery of this area is home to many varieties of rare animals and birds in Asia. It is the diversity of nature that has attracted many environmentalists and nature lovers to Bahrain. The eastern side of Bahrain is mostly a muddy region and it is here that you will see a lot of migratory birds, including rare species such as the Curlew Sandpiper, Sandplover, and the Broad-billed Sandpiper.

If you go to the desert region, you will be able to see some of the flora and fauna which have adapted themselves to this harsh climate. Some of the animals seen here are the three-toed jerboas, long-eared desert hedgehogs, and cape hares. The coast of Bahrain is also rich in marine life such as dolphins, sea snakes, dugongs, and green turtles. Animals like the Indian Grey mongoose, Kingfishers, Painted snipes, and herons can be seen in the ditches of Bahrain. The mangroves of Bahrain are full of various types of fishes and crustaceans.
