Hawar Islands

The Hawar Islands are a group of islands located off the island of Bahrain in the Persian Gulf. These islands are an archipelago of 36 desert islands which are extremely scenic and beautiful. Though Qatar is relatively very close to the Hawar Islands, these islands belong to Bahrain. The Hawar Islands have an area of about 50 square kilometers. These islands are extremely important due to the presence of endangered bird and marine species, both resident and migratory.

The islands look like Heaven with tranquil surroundings and the mildly swaying palm trees and the calm waters around you. Wherever you look, you will see a stretch of vast desert sand with the warm sunshine above you. You will enjoy the solitude of being far away from the hustle and bustle of the grimy and bustling city life. And here, you are one with Nature.

The Hawar Islands have been recognized as a World Heritage Site due to the presence of its unique environment and habitat for endangered species. The place is vibrant with many endangered species of birds and hence birdwatchers and nature lovers are attracted to the island. The endangered species are Dugong, Turtle, Reem Gazelle, Sundevall’s Jurd, Socotra Cormorant, Reef Herons, and Sooty falcons.

The biggest attraction here is the number of hotels and resorts on the islands which provide you with a lot of recreational activities, including water sports.  You will find that you have a lot of dining options with very tantalizing and tasty fare. These hotels and resorts present a stunning selection of food for you with more emphasis on Continental and Asian cuisine.

Do visit the Hawar Islands and try to be one with Nature – it is an experience, which you can never forget!
