Bahrainis are very friendly people and they are happy to meet their friends. Smiling and direct eye contact is essential when you meet Bahrainian friends.
Some of the customs of Bahrain may seem strange to you, nevertheless you have to follow them. If you are invited to a Bahraini’s home, take a gift which could be a houseplant or a small gift from your country. Never give alcohol as a gift.
Bahrainis enjoy entertaining friends and their family in their home, and remember that entertaining is mostly same-sex only. When you visit a Bahraini at his home, see if your host is wearing shoes, and if he is not, remove your shoes at the door. Be on time, as punctuality is valued.
