Sightseeing in Bahrain

Bahrain is an island nation that is famous as a tourist destination and which attracts quite a numbers of visitors every year. Bahrain is a country which offers a number of interesting places for sightseeing.

There are a number of important tourist destinations in Bahrain, but make certain that you do not miss out on these:

Bahrain Fort: The history of Bahrain has revealed that the first houses here were constructed around 2800 BC. The fort was built during the time of the Portuguese, and hence it is also known as the Portuguese Fort.

Arad Fort: This fort is a 16th century Arabic construction which has undergone a lot of restoration. When you are out sightseeing in Bahrain, take a look at the brilliantly illuminated fort during the night which presents a really magnificent sight.

Al-Jasra House: This house which is the birth place of the present Amir was built by Shaikh Hamdad bin Abdulla Al Khalifa in 1907.

Barbar Temple: This is a temple complex comprising of three temples, the oldest temple is as old as 3000 years BC. It is said that the temples were constructed to worship the god Enki, the god of wisdom and freshwater.

Royal Tombs: When sightseeing in Bahrain, do remember to see the Royal Tombs which are the largest and most imposing of Bahrain’s burial tombs numbering about 85,000. These tombs are located in the village of A’ali which is well known for pottery.

Bat Al Qur’an: The Bait Al Qur’an is a house built to preserve a vast and valuable collection of the Holy Qur’an and other manuscripts. The complex consists of a mosque, a library, an auditorium, a school, and a museum.
