Bahrain, which was once known as Dilmun, is an archipelago which consists of 33 islands. It has a very old and rich history which dates back to well over 5000 years. Did you know that the Sumerians once considered this island as the abode of the Gods and where there was no disease, death, or suffering?
Bahrain has a number of interesting places for tourists to visit and discover. One of these is the Qala’al-Bahrain or the Bahrain Fort which is located just off the northern shore and is about a ten minute drive from the capital city of Manama. Just adjacent to the fort is the museum which contains artifacts ranging from the ancient Dilmun periods to the Islamic periods.
Bahrain has its collection of greenery and you will find a number of trees in Bahrain, but a place of interest is the Tree of Life which is rather an unusual tree. It is special as it is located in the middle of the desert amidst oil wells.
If you are on a visit to Bahrain, your visit is not complete without the shopping experience. There are a number of malls here, but a visit to the traditional markets or souqs is a must and the biggest is the Manama souq.
When you visit Bahrain you will find that there are a number of four star and five star hotels which provide you with luxury and economy accommodation with all facilities. Bahrain has quite an interesting night life – much more than your expectations. There are bars, night clubs, opera, ballet, and theatre. And the restaurants provide you with gourmet fare, including traditional dishes.
